Annulments

In the Gospel of Matthew, when asked about divorce, Jesus declares that people who are married “are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” [Matthew 19:6]

With this in mind, the process of getting an annulment is a legal proceeding within the Catholic Church to discern if, while someone may have been legally and civilly married, there was ever a truly valid sacramental marriage.

If you are in the process of a divorce or are already divorced and would like to get remarried in the Catholic Church, click here for more information about seeking an annulment (declaration of nullity) through the Diocese of Toledo. The “Annulment FAQ” side link is particularly helpful for answering questions about the “what” and the “why” of the annulment process.

You can also reach out to our parish staff, as divorce can be a particularly painful experience and one which should not be gone through alone.
