Join the Gesu & St. Pius communities as we offer the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at our weekend Masses the weekend of November 2 -3.

The sacrament will be offered during the all the weekend Masses at BOTH Gesu and St. Pius Churches. The anointing will take place after the homily and will require those wishing to receive it to stand in place for the initial prayers and then a line being formed (similar to Communion) for those to be anointed. If someone is incapable of coming up in the line, the priests will also be available to go out into the congregation as needed.

If you are unsure whether you should receive the sacrament, here are 5 situations when it is appropriate to receive the sacrament:

1) At the start of a serious illness (including mental illness)

2) Regularly as that illness persists

3) After a serious injury (accident)

4) When facing serious surgery

5) When one begins to experience the diminishment of aging and regularly thereafter.
