Announcement About Feast of the Assumption

This Saturday, August 15, is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. While usually a Holy Day of Obligation in the United States, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation in 2026 because it falls on a Saturday.

If you wish to go to Mass in order to celebrate this feast, our neighbors the Sisters of the Visitation have their normal 7:00am Mass that day, and it is open to the public.

If you are curious as to why: The bishops of the United States have declared that if a solemnity that is normally a Holy Day of Obligation falls on either a Saturday or a Monday, the obligation is dismissed in order to privilege Sunday, the primary and weekly holy day of obligation. You can click here to find the specific pronouncements about this from the USCCB on their website.
